Celebrating Three Decades of Cybersecurity Excellence

Infosecurity Europe has been at the forefront of the cybersecurity industry, bringing together professionals, visionaries, and innovators as part of a vibrant and supportive community. From its first event in 1996 to the expansive gathering it has become today, the story of Infosecurity Europe is one of growth, collaboration, and the shared drive to build a safer digital world.

1960-1980s

The foundations of cybersecurity are laid as networked communication grows. Early threats spark the development of cryptographic tools and the realisation that robust security measures are critical for protecting digital information.

1990s

With the internet entering public use, the scope of cybersecurity challenges widens. Infosecurity Europe launches in 1996, creating a much-needed space for professionals to discuss and address emerging cyber threats.

2000s

The digital world faces increasingly sophisticated attacks, from phishing scams to organised cybercrime. Cybersecurity becomes a priority for businesses and governments alike. This pivotal decade includes the following milestones for Infosecurity Europe and its sister brand, Infosecurity Magazine

2003

The first volume of Infosecurity Magazine is released, becoming an essential resource for cybersecurity professionals.

2008

Infosecurity Europe establishes the prestigious Hall of Fame, honouring individuals who have profoundly influenced the industry.

2010s

The industry adapts to the rise of cloud computing, mobile technology, and large-scale data breaches. Regulatory frameworks emphasise privacy and compliance. During this period, Infosecurity Europe continues to grow its influence and impact.

The UK’s Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME Competition is introduced in collaboration with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (now the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, DSIT). The competition is no longer running, but DSIT has continued to strongly support the event through the Cyber Innovation Zone, which showcases ground-breaking cybersecurity companies.

2016

Infosecurity Europe launches the Leaders Programme, designed to connect senior executives with exclusive content and networking opportunities.

2020s
